Bert O. Miller

 

Past International President Bert O. Miller of Little Rock, Arkansas, born February 8, 1932, passed away January 11, 2025, at the age of 92. He was honored as a Past International President in 1991 after serving six years on the UCT Board of Governors. Bert had been a member of Little Rock, Arkansas Council 665 and was active at the local, regional, and international levels.

 

Bert graduated from Little Rock Senior High School, where he met his future bride Laura Frances Bogan. He attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee while Laura attending nurse's training in Memphis. They were married in Little Rock on November 25, 1950. Bert graduated with a doctorate degree in optometry in 1952.

 

In addition to his involvement with UCT, Bert was active in his community. Bert was affiliated with many Masonic bodies and an active member of the Kiwanis organization. Bert was a lifelong member and Past President of the American Optometric Association and an active member of many related professional organizations.

 

As an accomplished pianist and organist, Bert was a choir director at several local churches and was ordained as a minister at the age of 80. He was an enthusiastic participant in the Pulaski Heights Baptist Church Young at Heart group.

 

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, and Laura, the love of his life for 73 years. He is survived by his daughters and their families.
